Christmas Party

Chapter members enjoyed a great Italian meal with their fellow
Green Berets! Socks were collected to donate to the Boston VA
hospitals. Bob
Delponte, Chapter Quartermaster, displayed coins and other SF
items for purchase. Door prizes and a 50-50 raffle were part
of the event. John Friberg provided a brief on the efforts of
veterans to assist in the evacuation and resettlement of
Afghans who served alongside U.S. Special Forces in
Afghanistan. Bill Fanaras provided a brief history about the
mlitary career of Chapter 54's first chapter president,

Veterans Day Observance

LTC William Buckley Memorial
Stoneham, MA

On November 11, 2022 the Chapter
conducted our traditional ceremony at the Col. William Buckley
memorial in Stoneham, MA. For the first time, the chapter was
invited to be part of the Town of Stoneham's Veterans's Day
Services and our President delivered an address about Col.
Buckley as part of those services. Later in the morning, many
Stoneham residents attended the Chapter's ceremony at the Col.
Buckley momument.
American Heritage Museum Tour

Over 25 Chapter members and family attended a private tour of
the museum. The facility offers one of the largest collections
of WW II memorabilia in the world. The exhibits include many
one-of-a-kind WW II German, Soviet, and allied tanks,
APC's, artillery pieces, uniforms, and other equipment.
Fishing Trip for Stripers
Cape Cod
October 8, 2022, Saturday, 1300
The trip lasted about five hours and the participants enjoyed
fishing for Blues and Bonita. The cost was minimal as the
chapter is kicking in a sizeable subsidy for a large part of the trip. The
boat departed Falmouth Inner Harbor, Scranton Avenue, Falmouth,
MA.

Executive Committee Meeting

Coffee and doughnuts at the meeting; pizza and soda after the
meeting. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
On the agenda is a review of events completed this year,
financial report, the American Heritage Museum tour date,
Veteran's Day observance, and other matters.
Foreign Weapons Familiarization
Course

Fryeburg FD, ME and Burke Bros. Gravel Pit, Center Conway, NH.
A one-day event, with classroom instruction, lunch provided,
live fire with team competitions, and a catered pig roast.

Annual Chapter Cookout

The location was the AFB Family Camp and Picnic area. The
traditional New England lobster boil was well attended with 55
Chapter members and family in attendence.

Chicopee, MA / Westover AFB
This event is free to all members of Chapters 54, 48, 72, and
the Maine SF Annex, as well as personnel of C/1/20th, A/2/19th,
and SOD-G. The event begins with the observance of an Airborne
operation at DZ Dogpatch on Westover AFB. Then the cookout will
take place at the Westover AFB picnic area. RSVP to Kevin
Paicos by May 20th.

No fishing boats were available for booking. Kevin C. will try
to arrange for a fishing event later this fall.
Memorial Day Observance
Individual members are encouraged to visit the William Buckley
Memorial in Stoneham, MA. This is not an official chapter
event.

Chapter 54 Executive Committee
Meeting - 19 Feb 2022, 10:00 am
The meeting will take place at the Ferncroft Room in
Middleton, MA. Coffee and doughnuts will be served. Some of the
activities include the treasurer's report, 2022 proposed
budget, quartermaster sales, executive committee status, annual
calendar, SGM Pete Smith (C/1/20th Liason), officer positions,
issues from SFA national, scholarship committee, new business,
old business, sick call, and raffle drawings. After the meeting
pizza and soft drinks will be served.
