In Memory of
Robert Delia
CSM (Ret.) Robert Delia passed away on January 11, 2023 at
the age of 91. He was an Associate Member of Chapter 54 of the
Special Forces Association. He was also a prominent member of
the New England Chapter of the
101st Airborne Division Association. Bob was a Veteran of
the Korean and Vietnam Wars, serving 30 years in the U.S. Army.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1948 and was stationed in Japan
in the period after World War II. When the Korean conflict
began he was sent to Korea. In Korea he served in an
intelligence and reconnaissance platoon.
Bob was promoted to the rank of Command Sergeant Major in
1966 when the Army first created the rank. He received two
Purple Hearts, one in Korea and one in Vietnam. One of his last
assignments was as the post Command Sergeant Major at Fort
Devens in 1973. He had served at Fort Devens three times during
his career.
Bob was born on March 20, 1931. He went to high school in
St. Paul, Minnisota. His wife Joan passed away in 2004. Bob was
active in the local community, Pepperell, MA, serving on
numerous veterans and civic organizations.
In 2004, Bob designed and had minted the Bronze Challenge
Coin for Chapter 54.

Military Honors
Graveside services will take place on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at
1:00 PM at the
Woodlawn Cemetery, 40 Heald Street, Peperall, MA. Following the ceremony there will be a reception at
Bailey's Tavern, 18 Main Street, Townsend, MA.
