In Memory of
Denny Drewry
Denzil "Denny" Drewry passed away on March 8, 2022 at age
76. He was a member of Chapter 54 of the Special Forces
Association. Denny served with U.S. Army Special Forces on a
Green Beret detachment in Vietnam.

He enlisted in the Army in 1966 and volunteered for duty in
Vietnam. He attended Infantry Officer School, Airborne School,
and the Special Forces Officer Course. While in Vietnam in
1968-1969 he
served as an Executive Officer (XO) on Special Forces
Detachment A102.
After being injured in Vietnam he returned to the United
States where he served as an instructor in military courses. After
three years on active duty and eight years in the Army Reserves
Denny left the military holding the rank of Major. HIs awards
and decorations include the Bronze Star for Valor, Purple
Heart, Airborne Wings, Special Forces Tab, and Combat Infantry
Badge.
He was raised in Eastport and Orono, Maine. After High
School he moved to Massachusetts with his family. Denny was a
long-time resident of Westborough, Massachusetts. He graduated
from the University of Massachusetts Amhearst with a B.S.
Before retiring he was a Divisional Sales Vice President for
a Fortune 500 Company.
Denny served the Westborough community for several
decades as a selectman, sports coach, and member of several
community organizations. He was an advocate for veterans and
provided assistance for veterans who were in need. Denny was a
member of the Special Forces Association, Military Order Purple
Heart, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars,
and American Legion. He served as the Chief Financial Officer
for Fishing With Warriors.
He served as president of Chapter 54, Special Forces
Association. After his term ended he served for many years on
the Chapter's executive committee.
His funeral service will be held on Monday, March 14, at 10:00
A.M. in the First United Methodist Church, 120 West Main St.,
Westborough. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Pine
Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours at the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home,
62 West Main St., Westborough, are Sunday, March 13, from 2 to 4 P.M.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the non-profit
organization
Fishing With Warriors.
Denny was co-founder of this organization that provided
services and benefits for veterans.
