Joseph A. Plourde
Joe Plourde passed away on June 19, 2020 at age 88. He was a life member (D-3592) of the Special Forces Association and a member of Chapter 54 (SFA - Boston). He died at his home in Oakboro, North Carolina. A funeral service was held on July 17, 2020 at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
He served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years to include time in the 82nd Airborne Division and in Special Forces. He served in the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was awarded the Silver Star, Soldier's Medal, as well as other decorations and awards.
Joe was born on January 10, 1932. In his retirement years he was an avid card player, bowling, and watching baseball. He was a great listener and story teller and loved to tinker in his garage.
