Roudolphe P. Szedga. Chapter member Rudy Szegda passed away on January 22, 2024. IMO Rudy Szedga.

Scott MacKinnon. Chapter member Joseph Scott MacKinnnon, age 54, passed away on January 5, 2024. IMO Scott MacKinnon.

Dick Nazzaro. Chapter member Richard Nazzaro, age 86, passed away on November 1, 2023. IMO Dick Nazzaro.

Bob Delia. Chapter member Robert Delia passed away on January 11, 2023. IMO Robert Delia.

Donald Marnon. Chapter member Donald James Marnon passed away on December 27, 2022. He was a resident of Dothan, Alabama after retirement from the U.S. Amry. IMO Donald James Marnon.

Rolly Hill. Chapter member Roland F. Hill, age 80, passed away on December 19, 2022. IMO Rolly Hill.

John Costello. Chapter member John Costello, age 90, passed away on October 24, 2022. He was a retired SFC in the U.S. Army Special Forces serving with the 11th Special Forces Group. IMO John Costello.

William McArdle. Chapter member William J. McArdle, Jr., age 83, passed away on June 12, 2022 at his home in Quincy, Massachusetts. He was a retired CW4. Obituary.

Harry E. Wellsman. Chapter member Harry Wellsman passed away on April 28, 2022. He was a resident of Buxton, Maine.

Paul Piusz. Former Chapter 54 member SGM (Ret.) Paul Scott Piusz passed away on April 20, 2022. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and then in Special Forces for a total of 29 years. Obituary.

Beverly Surette. Chapter member Beverly Surette, age 86, passed away on April 11, 2022. She was a Life and Associate member of the Special Forces Association. She was a long-time partner of LTC Bill Buckley. She was a staunch supporter of Chapter 54. Obituary.

Denny Drewry. A long time member and former president of Chapter 54 passed away on March 8, 2022. He served in U.S. Army Special Forces in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart for some severe wounds he suffered in combat. IMO Denny Drewry.

Henry Nilan. Sergeant Major (Ret.) Henry Nilan of West Roxbury, Massachusetts, passed away on November 30, 2021. He served in the U.S. Army for several decades with the 11th Special Forces Group. IMO Hank Nilan.

Joseph Connolly. Chapter member Joe Connolly passed away on October 2021. He was a retired Master Sergeant who served 34 years in the U.S. Army to include a tour in Vietnam.

Jermone Burr. Jerry passed away on September 6, 2021 at age 76. He served with the 7th Special Forces Group. He then served with the 5th Special Forces Group in Vietnam. IMO Jerry Burr.

George Ackley. George passed away on August 13, 2021. He served with the 11th Special Forces Group. IMO George Ackley.

William Brown. Master Sergeant (Ret.) William O. Brown of Cumberland, Maine passed away on June 11, 2021. He served in the U.S. Army for twenty years to include service in Southeast Asia from 1968 to 1969 where he was wounded in action. IMO Bill Brown.

James Phillips. Jim died on August 25, 2020. He was a Life member of the Special Forces Association and Chapter 54. Jim was the owner of Phillips Publications - a company dedicated to the preservation of the history of U.S. military elite units. IMO James Phillips.

Ramio I. Ahti. A life member, Ramio passed away on July 7, 2020 at age 85. Raimo was born in Somero, Finland. His last residence was in Lunenburg, Massachusetts. Read more about him in his obituary and online memorial.

Joseph Plourde. Chapter 54 member Joe Plourde passed away on June 19, 2020. He was a resident of Oakboro, North Carolina. He served in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts and was a recipient of the Silver Star. IMO Joseph A. Plourde.

William R. Mark. Bill died on December 13, 2019. He served over 26 years in the Army and Army Reserves including tours in Germany and Vietnam. He was a Chaplain for the 10th Special Forces Group during Desert Storm. IMO William R. Mark

Steven C. Kalvelage. Steve died on October 31, 2019. He served in the 10th, 11th, and 20th Special Forces Groups. IMO Steve Kalvelage.

Francis X. Roark. Frank passed away on October 13, 2019. He served in the 1st and 11th Special Forces Groups. IMO Frank Roark.

Richard T. Kelley. Rick died on October 15, 2018. He served in the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th Special Forces Groups during his career. IMO Rick Kelley.

William Coombs. Bill passed away at age 83 on October 11, 2018 after a period of declining health. He was a retired SGM with 30 years service in the U.S. Army. IMO Bill Coombs.

Arthur D'Agostino. Art passed away on September 17, 2018 after a long fight with cancer. He died at home in Southington, CT. He served with the 5th Special Forces Group in Vietnam. IMO Art D'Agostino.

Ronald Charles Damon. Ron passed away after a short illness on January 20, 2018. He was born December 26, 1936. He served in the Navy as a member of UDT 21 and the Navy SEALs from 1956 to 1962 and later in the 11th Special Forces Group from 1975 to 1990. He was a police officer for South Portland from 19968 to 1989. IMO Ronald Damon.

William M. Deyermond. William passed away after a long illness on December 27, 2017. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the early 1960s then he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam with the 5th Special Forces Group. After his military service he served in the Massachusetts State Police until his retirement in 1990. James Fitzgerald. MSG (Ret) Jim Fitzgerald passed away at age 79 on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. He served in the U.S. Army Special Forces as well as the 101st Airborne Division. Jim was also a long-time Boston firefighter and served as President and Vice President of the Boston Firefighters Union (Local #718). IMO Jim Fitzgerald.

Leon Dobridnia. SGM (Ret) Leon Francis Dobridnia passed away in Briston, Rhode Island at the age of 96 on June 20, 2017. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and the Korean War. After Korea he joined the U.S. Army Reserves where he served with Special Forces units. He was laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetary, Section 91, Lot 515A. Obituary.

Kevin O'Brien. SFC (Ret) Kevin "OB" O'Brien passed away on April 18, 2017 in Rye, New Hampshire following a brief illness. He was a member of the 10th, 11th, and 20th Special Forces Group. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2002 - 2003. Obituary.

Donald Van Roosen. LTC (Ret) Donald Van Roosen died December 29, 2016. He was a World War II veteran who took part in the D-Day landings and was a POW held by the Germans. He served in the 11th Special Forces Group. IMO LTC Donald Van Roosen.

Edward Dahlqvist. Ed passed away on December 22, 2016 of natural causes. He was interned at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on January 6, 2017 with military honors. Obituary.

Robert Dolan. COL (Ret) Robert Dolan passed away on April 15, 2016. Bob was a charter member of Chapter 48 in Rhode Island but later transferred to Chapter 54. He had a long history with the Rhode Island Special Forces community. He was a past president of Chapter 54 and very involved in chapter activities.

Roscoe C. Turner. It is with much regret that we announce the passing of Chapter member Roscoe C. Turner of Venice, Florida. He passed away in December 2013. Our condolences go out to his wife Janice Campbell Turner and the extensive Turner family.

James Lewis. SGM James W. Lewis, 83, died October 2, 2012 in Falmouth, Massachusetts after a brief illness. A veteran of four wars - World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and Desert Storm - he was a career military man and a member of the U.S. Army Special Forces. In recent years, he dedicated himself to helping veterans in need of medical attention, transportation, or the emphathetic ear of someone who understood the tradition of battlefield camarderie. A memorial Mass was held on October 27th at St. Joseph's Church, Woods Hole, Massachusetts and burial was in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Dennis Leahy. LTC Dennis P. Leahy, age 64, of Atkinson, New Hampshire passed away on April 20, 2012 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident earlier that day in Windham. Dennis was born on August 24, 1947 in Malden, Massachusetts. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He later attended Officer Candidate School and received a commission. He served his country as a Special Forces officer for 29 years combined active and reserve duty.

Robert Lowell Moore. AKA "Robin Moore" - author of The Green Berets. Robin, a Chapter 54 member, was born on Halloween Night, October 31, 1925 in Boston, Massachusetts. He passed away on February 21, 2008 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
