Daniel Pierelli died on February 15, 2025 at age 78. He was a
long-time member of Chapter 54, Special Forces Association. He
served with the 6th, 5th, and 10th Special Forces Group - to
include a 13-month long tour in Vietnam (Det A-236).

The below text is from Dan's obituary. "Daniel J. Pierelli passed on February 15,
2025 after a long illness. Dan was born in New Haven,
Connecticut on May 27,1946. Dan lived in West Haven for 23
years with his parents Dante and Nina (Maltese) Pierelli. Dan
was predeceased by his wife of 51 years Maria Luisa (Montesi)
Pierelli. Dan attended Cheshire Academy from 1960 to
1965. Growing up, Dan always knew he wanted to serve his
country so he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1967. After
successfully graduating Jump School at Ft. Benning, GA, Dan
headed to Ft. Bragg for Special Forces (Green Beret) training.
Upon successfully completing Special Forces training Dan was
assigned to the 6th Special Forces Group at Ft. Bragg. With all
that combat training Dan received, he volunteered for service
in Vietnam with the 5th Special Forces Group. Dan served 13
months in Vietnam with the 5th Group. While in Vietnam Dan was
awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Army Commendation
Medal for Valor and the Bronze Star Medal for Valor. Dan never
spoke of his awards and decorations. Dan felt that some of his
Special Forces Brothers deserved more recognition than he did.
Dan was just honored to have served alongside of them. Upon his return from Vietnam, Dan was
assigned to the 10th Special Forces Group at Ft. Devens,
Massachusetts until his discharge from the Army. Dan married
the love his life Maria Luisa Montesi, daughter of Ezzelino and
Alfreda (Bedini) Montesi of Ridgefield, CT. on July 10, 1971.
They were married for 51 years until Maria's premature passing
from a stroke on November 21, 2022. Dan credits his loving wife
Maria, for helping to bring him back to the church and closer
to God, something he became very proud of in the later years of
his life. In 2010 Dan started substitute teaching
for Region 15 in Southbury and Middlebury. He was greatly
appreciative of what Region 15 did for him and his wife, Maria. Dan is survived by his two sons and their
families, Carlo Pierelli, his wife Edie (Gobel) Pierelli and
their two children, Isabella and Luca, Anthony Pierelli, his
wife Ana (Rodriguez) Pierelli and their children, Sebastian and
Gabriel. Dan is also survived by his loving sister Marietta
(Chickie) Daddio of North Branford. No services are planned at this time. For
those wishing to make donations in Dan's memory, he has
requested donations be made to the Green Beret Foundation,
14351 Blanco Road, San Antonio, Texas 78216. Brookside Memorial/The Albini Family
Funeral Home & Crematory, Middlebury, has been entrusted with
				 handling Dan's funeral services.
