In Memory of
William Stewart Komenda

William Komenda passed away at age 88 on January 9, 2025. For
many years Bill served as an Engineer Sergeant (demolitions)
and Intelligence Sergeant with Company A, 1st Battalion, 11th Special Forces Group at Fort
Devens, Massachusetts. He served 31 years in the U.S. Army from
1954 until 1995 retiring as a Sergeant First Class (SFC). Bill
was a member of Chapter 54 (Boston), Special Forces
Association.
At the time of his death Bill was a resident of Sandown, New
Hampshire. He was born in 1936 in New York City, NY. He
attended Hampstead High School in New Hampshire. He had three
children. In civilian life, Bill worked as a draftsman and
engineer. Bill was an avid outdoorsman enjoying scuba diving,
snorkeling, hunting, fishing, hiking, gun collecting, horseback riding,
and skydiving. Bill is remembered by his fellow Green Beret
collegues as an intelligent and dependable soldier with a great
sense of humor.
