William Stewart Komenda
William Komenda passed away at age 88 on January 9, 2025. For many years Bill served as an Engineer Sergeant (demolitions) and Intelligence Sergeant with Company A, 1st Battalion, 11th Special Forces Group at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. He served 31 years in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1995 retiring as a Sergeant First Class (SFC). Bill was a member of Chapter 54 (Boston), Special Forces Association.
At the time of his death Bill was a resident of Sandown, New Hampshire. He was born in 1936 in New York City, NY. He attended Hampstead High School in New Hampshire. He had three children. In civilian life, Bill worked as a draftsman and engineer. Bill was an avid outdoorsman enjoying scuba diving, snorkeling, hunting, fishing, hiking, gun collecting, horseback riding, and skydiving. Bill is remembered by his fellow Green Beret collegues as an intelligent and dependable soldier with a great sense of humor.

Services: A gravesite burial service will take
place at the Veterans Cemetery in Boscowen, New Hampshire on
Monday, May 5, 2025 at 12:00 pm. Please check-in at the
administration building at the cemetery at least 15 minutes
prior to the scheduled service.

Luncheon Reception: A luncheon reception is
planned at The Common Man at 25 Water Street, Concord, NH (603)
228-4511 after the services at the VA Cemetery. The restaurant
is located about 15 miles south of the VA Cemetery, off Route
93.
